Introduction: I have been drawing, sketching, and painting since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I have a passion for art that I believe is God given, so I cannot just “put it away”; I am driven to do it.This is my best explanation for why the creation of visual art has been my profession for most of the last 20 years.

Approach:

The last 18 years my clients have engaged me through interior design professionals and builders; the result of that liaison has been mostly large-scale murals. I have also been involved in many other aspects of transforming a space; from faux finishes to fabric selection. In the creation process, I typically work as a team with the design professional to please the client. Over time I have come to really appreciate and enjoy a” team” approach…sure, I have definitive visions of my own, but the ultimate goal for the work is to serve those who will be enjoying it (experiencing it) for years to come. In the creation of art to transform a whole space (which is typically what I do) the design team, client and myself must consider all elements in the area that would affect flow, light and shadow, and any other influential aesthetic issues.

My general approach to a project could be condensed to the following points:

Ø      Define the desires of the client /patron (what is the objective?)

Ø      Identify style and color preferences

Ø      Recognize all influential factors in the space

Ø      Sketch initial ideas

Ø      Team accepts an initial idea and refines it

Ø      Sketch refined ideas

Ø      Team accepts a refined idea/concept

Ø      Submit action plan with time line and estimated costs

Ø      Execute the work with passion to the client’s satisfaction

Style:

My style of drawing and painting would default to some form of realism, ranging from Impressionist to Ilustrative. Most of my work is commissioned in advance, so I really strive to tweak my style to please my client.  I paint with acrylics much of the time because of my need to execute the work on location. I am comfortable with oils and pastels if the commission calls for it.

In Closing:

I would like to think that I bring passion and experience, along with my skill set, to even the smallest projects that I agree to do. I am committed to the visual arts full time. Ultimately I am working to please my client and create the project he/she is paying me to create. The ultimate goal for my work is to serve those who will be enjoying it (experiencing it) for years to come. I love my job.

Sincerely,
